where we learn & play

the  yurt

Our safe space that welcomes us and shelters us when the weather is less inviting. More than a tent, the yurt is the result of ancient savoir-faire and has been developed over hundreds of years. Made to resist extreme climates, this circular domed abode is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Purchased from a local company in Alexandria ON, it is hand made with hand painted doors, horse hair ropes and breathable canvas wrap. It's also equipped with a wood burning fire place and 3 large windows for lighting and air flow.

The perfect space to recharge, dry wet clothes, enjoy snacks away from the elements or make crafts with our finds from the forest.

the forest

Situated on 30 acres, the property features kilometers of beautifully manicured trails, a pond with turtles and frogs, wild flower meadows for important pollinators, coniferous and deciduous forests throughout.

When you arrive you are greeted with a most magnificent mother maple tree that is over 100 years old. You follow the trail to the back of the property which will take you passed a whimsical pine forest and tranquil pond area that fills during the spring thaw. You'll then arrive to the wild flower meadow clearing where you'll find our yurt and mud kitchen play area. To reach the turtle pond, you go past our yurt and into the second forest which goes on for acres and acres. If you venture far enough, you'll stumble upon a hidden ancient maple shack.

A property full of treasures and ready to welcome the patter of children's feet.

the mud kitchen

The area where every child becomes a mad scientist making unique creations with mud, water, plants and flowers. A fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, utensils and "running" water, children can spend hours creating and making.

We've also added open ended materials (loose parts) like tires, building blocks, pipes, gutters, milk crates, tree trunks and more to capture their curiosity and ignite their imaginations.
